Selecting A Site
Selecting a reception site is one of the most important decisions you'll make when planning your wedding. The site selected will set the atmosphere for the entire day or evening.

Cutting The Cake Types of Reception Sites
There are a variety of different types of sites that you may choose to have your reception at. They include:

Function Facilities
Restaurants
Country Clubs
Hotels / Convention Centers
Inns / Bed and Breakfast
Mansions and Historic Sites
Galleries and Museums
Private Homes
Public Parks

Questions to Ask a Site Manager
You should thoroughly inspect a potential site, so that you are familiar with everything from the dance floor to the restrooms. Here is a list of questions you should have answers to before you make your final selection:

Concerning the Facility
How long will the room(s) be available to us? What happens if we need more time?
Will a wedding coordinator be available during the reception?
Are there special changing rooms for the bride and groom?
Will other events be occurring at the same time as our reception?
Is the dance floor large enough to accommodate the number of guests expected?
If part of the reception is planned for outdoors, what happens if it rains?
Are there any special charges, for example, setting up chairs and tables?
What rooms will be allowed to use?
Can we light candles?
Is there adequate parking?
Is there a coatroom? If so, will there be an attendant?
Is it handicapped accessible?

Concerning the number of guests
What are the maximum number of guests that can be accommodated?
Is there a minimum number of guests required?
When do you need the final headcount?

Concerning the Meal
Can we bring in our own caterer?
Will our caterer have access to the kitchen facilities?
Will there be a charge for cutting the wedding cake?
What is the ratio of wait staff to guests?
What types of linens are supplied? What colors do you have?
What type of service styles do you offer? (buffet, sit down, white glove)
